As CEO and co-founder of HerMoney and former financial editor for NBC’s The TODAY Show, she believes that money is an important life skill for people of all ages. She has dedicated most of her professional life to helping people understand money issues and promoting financial literacy. And Jean attributes much of her career success to her ability to make difficult subjects understandable. Jean has written books on a wide range of topics, from money and happiness (“The Ten Commandments of Financial Happiness”) to women and money (“Women With Money” and “Make Money, Not Excuses”), and how to succeed in a tough economy (“The Difference”). Jean also published “Money Rules: The Simple Path to Lifelong Security,” a manifesto with 90 straightforward wealth-building rules, as well as “Operation Money,” a free financial guidebook for military families that is available on her website. Jean also speaks to groups—big and small—and moderates panels that discuss financial and workplace issues. She now lives in a New York suburb, following the money rules that have made her successful—“in a smaller house than we could afford and we do it by choice.”
